Woolmark Performance Challenge 2018: winner announced!

And that's a wrap on the first iteration of the Woolmark Performance Challenge!

 

Alicia Ferreira de Sousa from L’École de la Maille de Paris was announced the winner of the inaugural adidas x Woolmark Performance Challenge, presented at a special event during Outdoor Retailer, Denver, Colorado. The Woolmark Performance Challenge is aimed at pushing the limits of product innovation and is set to kick-start the career of Alicia.

Redonda: confirmed rat free!

Within 12 months of starving goats and thousands of ravenous rats being removed from Redonda, this remote Caribbean island has witnessed a miraculous transformation. Since the ambitious restoration programme was rolled out, in short time, the rock of Redonda has been transfigured from an inhospitable landscape to a greener haven.

Woolmark Performance Challenge: finalists announced!

At the end of July 2018, The Woolmark Company and adidas announced the 10 inaugural finalists for the Woolmark Performance Challenge! In its first year the award attracted 510 student registrations from 58 universities from across Europe and North America. We are looking forward to welcoming the finalists to London for educational workshops in September, and to Denver for the final judging event held at Outdoor Retailer Winter Market, November 2018.

Other exciting news that accompanied this announcement is that the programme will run for a second year, including expansion to global entry. Student registrations will reopen for this second iteration on September 1st 2018.

Woolmark Performance Challenge: public announcement!

On January 29th 2018, on The Woolmark Company stand at ISPO Munich, we announced the launch of Woolmark Performance Challenge to trade and press. This was the accumulation of months of work, getting the project foundations ready and working with the regional teams on university outreach. Outreach work and the educational engagement programme will continue until the submission deadline in May 2018.

I returned to work with The Woolmark Company as a consulting Project Manager in June 2017. I took up the challenge to launch a new project for them: Woolmark Performance Challenge. I'm pleased that after several months of planning and collaboration with the international team, we've recently launched the competition website.

Restore Rangers: an NHS funded project

September 14, 2017

I have been working on this NHS Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS)-funded project with The Magna Carta School (TMCS) throughout the 2016-17 academic year. Piloting a new approach to interventions for young teens at risk of mental health and well-being challenges, we planned activities and created a monitoring and evaluation framework to collect data and measure impacts. I have reported to the NHS on a monthly basis, and we submitted our final report in June. In this TES article, TMCS's Head of Mental Heath & Well-being Clare Erasmus reflects on the initiative and our learnings.

Redonda Restoration Programme

As I mentioned in the earlier update, I am currently managing communications via the Durrell Conservation Academy social media channels. Speaking to the alumni, staff and course participants on a regular basis for content creation, is an inspiring experience.

NOT JUST A LABEL have been working with Fiera di Vincenza for several years on Origin Passion & Beliefs. I came on board this year to support the project's move to Milano Unica. We had a successful opening day today, with 100 stunning stands (50 designers and 50 manufacturers) for MU attendees to visit.

I worked with them on planning the event agenda, procuring speakers, and producing an event that would engage and inspire the creative professionals, and shake up this industry as a whole.

I pitched the original concept, managed the first two years of implementation, and reported on our success.

When I began working with TWC, their educational talks were ad-hoc and usually given at individual universities. Consulting with external experts I designed a more strategic approach, and launched the Naturally Inspiring seminars in 2014. Since then these seminars have run annually in several international markets, with great praise from students and tutors.
